Torild Stray’s vision and commitment as a painter have brought her critical acclaim as well as a strong international following of collectors. She has been the recipient of the Agnes Gund (MOMA) award, a new york times scholarship and a fellowship; artist in residence program in the former WTC, where she painted NYC from the 85th floor.
Following extensive travels in south east asia, Stray attended the university of Bergen, the Nordic School of art in Finland and the New York studio school of drawing, painting and sculpture.
Her work is held in the collections of the national september 11 memorial & museum (NYC), the Greig foundation (N) and the Birger Mowincel collection (N). Stray divides her time between Norway and New York.
